- How Sunday in the Park with George got its Pulitzer In April 1985, Sunday in the Park with George became the sixth musical to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Larry Moore, a New York-based orchestrator and arranger, was instrumental in that happening. Having seen an early performance of Sunday, he was moved to contact Sondheim's office after the show opened and suggest that it be nominated for the Pulitzer. They agreed to cooperate, and Larry gathered all of the required materials and submitted them to the Columbia School of Journalism. In a post to Facebook, Larry described this process. The attached document is lightly edited from his post.
